Hey there. Do any of you blindies ever use paypal? What are your thoughts on it? Thanks.

I've used them on a number of occasions and never had problems. I think you need to do that stupid copying images into a box thing that you'll need sighted assistance with, the first time you use Paypal, but after that it's been plain sailing for me. I've used it from amount reaching anywhere from $15 to $700, no problems, I've also received payments, no problems.
You got to make sure the other person you're trading with is reliable, of course, and will honr the agreement you made. But Paypal as a medium for clearing transactions seems to be fairly reliable and pretty neat, it's very accessible once you've signed up.
cheers

Hi. I too have had great success with paypal. I've used it extensively over the last couple years. To add to what wildebrew said, yes it does have one of those things where you have to enter the word that's in the picture. However, if you are unable to see the picture, there is an audio link you can click on to hear the word. Or at least there was two years ago. Actually it isn't a word from the dictionary, just a random collection of letters. The only problem I had with the audio link, was the voice was at such a low bit rate, that some letters sounded identical. Letters like f, s, and x for example. So if you're planning on signing up for paypal, it would be best to do it at a time when there is someone sighted around, just incase. That is assuming they haven't improved it since I got my paypal account, which is entirely possible.

We use Paypal for Stream Madness among other things and it's worked quite well. Really easy to set up and easy to integrate on the business site. Also nice for selling on Ebay.

No, you don't need sighted assistance to set you paypal account up. There is an link you can click on to download an audio file which will read the numbers you must type into that stupid security box. Other than that, I've never had a problem with paypal. It's very easy to use.

Another problem. Due to the "you must be at least 18 years" age limetation, I don't use it yet. My dad did, but he didn't have enough money.

Haven't used it, but have heard from my blindie friend (Doodgeman on here) that it's easy to handle.

can you have a visa card to use pay pal, or do you have to have a credit card only, as i don't own one and only have a visa card, thanks.

Post 12 by InternetKing (the Zone BBS remains forever my home page) on Thursday, 10-Feb-2005 13:47:27

erm? Visa *is* a credit card and I use it for paypal as 1 of my creditcards. And I'd just agree with the rest and say that I never had a problem with paypal and what I love about it is when you're buying something from a business it's already prewritten like, for example, the cost so you don't have to do that, also the fact that once you log on to your account your creditcard is already on the record, so you don't even have to type the number of your creiditcard, just choos which 1 you want if you have more than 1 and that's it, very easy and fast.

I K, that's not entirely true... You can get veza connect cards, which are still just called veza for short, which is a debit card. I have a switch and it's fine with that, but that's the larger known debit card. I dont' know, you'd have to look. I'm inclined to say I doubt it, but I really can't remember, sorry.

I use paypal for LWorks, and love it. They're pretty generous with how much they take out of a transaction as aposed to some other credit card processing companys

I just used it to buy my Premium membership, though I didn't have to sign up for it to do that. It seems to work well with ordering, though it's got that pesky word varification rubbish.
